Details of our identity requirements for opening a savings account.

It is a requirement to verify the identity of all customers who open an account.
We may ask for specific proof of identity depending upon how you apply for your savings account.
If you are opening your account by post at Northern Rock's Head Office or online, you will not normally be required to send proof of your identity with your application (with the exception of Current Account), although in some circumstances this may be required.
If you are opening an account at one of our branches, you will normally need to provide face to face proof of identity.
Once your account has been opened you may also need to provide face to face proof of identity when carrying out withdrawals at one of our branches*.
*Please note that not all of Northern Rock's accounts can be operated at a branch. Please refer to individual product Terms and Conditions
